The Serge Ferrari Group, SA , based in La Tour-du-Pin (in the Isère department , France) is a listed, family-run manufacturer of technical textiles primarily for use in the construction industry (cables, foils and tarpaulins).

Founded in 1973 by Serge Ferrari, the group designs, produces and sells environmentally friendly, flexible high-tech composites with applications and a. In low-consumption and energy-efficient buildings and system solutions for opening living spaces to the outside and enlarging glazed rooms. The competitive position is based on a technology developed by the company ( Précontraint® ) and the use of specially developed PET microcables (polyethylene terephthalate) and their reinforcement by weaving in tensioned polymers that give the end material the desired physical properties, in particular with regard to strength, Deformability, lightness or even sound insulation and resistance to light and UV radiation. The materials are in the form of spools or rolls with a thickness of 2 mm or less. The group markets its range in three application areas to architects, industry and end users. The group's product range thus includes:

  • Composite materials for architecture: Précontraint composite roofs, solar and microclimate protection of facades, acoustic solutions, sub-roof waterproofing screens, etc.
  • Professional special composite materials allow modular lightweight structures for industry, environmental protection, bioenergy and safety and visual communication (advertising media and projection screens).
  • Innovative composite membranes for end users with applications in sun and weather protection (terrace, leisure navigation, etc.)

Three production sites are operated, the main plant in LaTour-du-Pin in France and two plants in Switzerland, in Emmenbrücke near Lucerne (acquired in 2000 as part of a joint venture with Rhodia ) and in Eglisau (acquired from Forbo in 2001 ) ; the recycling company Vinyloop in Ferrara, Italy, in which the company held 40%, was wound up in 2018.

Competitors in German-speaking countries are u. a. Verseidag-Indutex ( Jagenberg Group ), Mehler Texnologies , the Doerken Group , Heytex and Sattler (Austria).

Shareholders and management

The company has been listed on the Paris Stock Exchange since 2014, the Ferrari family continued to hold 69% of the capital and 76% of the voting rights at the end of 2018; the company is run by Sébastien Ferrari, son of the founder.
