Sergei Petrovich Isotov
Sergei Petrovich Isotow ( Russian Сергей Петрович Изотов , scientific transliteration Sergej Petrovič Izotov ; born June 30, 1917 , † May 6, 1983 in Leningrad ) was a Russian aeronautical engineer.
Life
Isotov studied at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute until he took a position at Klimov in 1941 and developed primarily helicopter engines in the 1950s . He was the deputy and from 1960 successor to the chief designer Vladimir Klimov .
Among other things, he designed the first Soviet helicopter turbines Klimow TW2-117 for the Mi-8 and Klimow TW3-117 for the Mi-24 as well as the associated gearboxes; over 40,000 of these two engines were produced. Another successful model was the GTD-350 used in the Mi-2
For his life's work he received, among other things, the Hero of Socialist Labor award , the Lenin Prize and the State Prize of the Soviet Union .
