Sergei Vladimirovich Ivanov (mathematician)

Sergei Wladimirowitsch Ivanov , Russian Сергей Владимирович Иванов , (born May 31, 1972 ) is a Russian mathematician.

From 1987 to 1989 he received the gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad. He studied in Saint Petersburg, where he received his doctorate under Juri Dmitrijewitsch Burago , and works there at the Steklov Institute . In 2009 he received his habilitation there ( Russian doctorate ).

In 2014, he and Juri Dmitrijewitsch Burago and Dmitri Jurjewitsch Burago received the Leroy P. Steele Prize for their book A course in metric geometry (American Mathematical Society 2001).

In addition to differential geometry, he also deals with computer science.

He was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians 2010 in Hyderabad ( volume comparison via boundary distances ). He is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
