Dmitri Yuryevich Burago

Dmitri Jurjewitsch Burago ( Russian Дмитрий Юрьевич Бураго ; * 1964 ) is a Russian mathematician who deals with geometry.

He is the son of the mathematics professor in Leningrad Yuri Dmitrijewitsch Burago , with whom he also published a book. Burago received his doctorate in 1994 from the University of St. Petersburg with Anatoli Werschik . He was at the Steklow Institute in Saint Petersburg and is a professor at Pennsylvania State University at the Center for Dynamical Systems and Geometry. There he received a research grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ( Sloan Research Fellowship ) in 1997 .

In 1992 he received the St. Petersburg Mathematical Society Prize . For 2014 he was awarded the Leroy P. Steele Prize with Juri Burago and Sergei Wladimirowitsch Iwanow for their book A course in metric geometry .
