Sergio Altesor

Sergio Altesor , also known as Sergio Altezor , (born August 31, 1951 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan artist and writer .

Life

Altezor went into exile in Sweden in 1976 during the civil-military dictatorship in Uruguay . He only returned to his home country in 1995 for six years and then moved back to his adopted Swedish home. Altezor has written for various magazines, including the El País supplement El País Cultural and the Brecha newspaper . He is also active as an artist. Since his first work Rio testigo in 1973, various other book publications have followed. In 1997 he received the Premio Literario Municipal of the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo . In 2000 his first novel was published, entitled Río escondido . In the same year he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Literatura of the Uruguayan Ministry of Culture .
