Sergio Giacomo Berger (born January 1, 1983 in Schiers , Graubünden ) is a Swiss snowboarder . He starts in the halfpipe discipline and sometimes in Big Air .

Sergio Berger grew up in Disentis and was introduced to skiing by his father at the age of two . At the age of eight he discovered his love for snowboarding . From 1999 he attended the Swiss sports high school in Davos and soon after made the jump to the junior national team of snowboarders. He graduated from school with a high school diploma (with a focus on economics) and then concentrated entirely on snowboarding. It starts in both the FIS - Snowboard World Cup and at the Ticket-to-Ride tour and was also at ISF gone -Events at the start.

Just one year after moving to Davos, he won the bronze medal at the ISF Junior World Championships and the silver medal at the FIS Junior World Championships in 2002, both in the halfpipe competition.

Berger made his debut in the World Cup in January 2002 in Arosa at a halfpipe competition. In the same place and again in the halfpipe, he achieved his first and so far only victory in the World Cup a year later. Since then, he has competed in almost all halfpipe competitions, and by the end of the 2007/2008 season he had competed in 49 World Cup competitions, including six in Big Air. He was placed in the top ten seventeen times. At the beginning of the 2008 season , fifth place in Saas-Fee was the fourth-best result of his career to date, after his three podium places. In 2004 he was fifth in the halfpipe discipline of the World Cup and in 2008 he was fourth to achieve his best result so far, which meant 34th place overall.

Berger lives in Disentis in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. In addition to his job as a snowboarder and snowboard instructor, he plays golf , windsurfing and skateboarding .
