Sergio Luvualu (born April 9, 1984 in Pfäffikon SZ ) is a Swiss pop singer. In his home country he briefly became known to a wide audience through his participation in the first season of the talent show MusicStar , which was broadcast on Swiss television between November 2003 and February 2004.

Career

Luvualu was born into a refugee family from Angola . His mother, who was active as a singer and director of a women's choir in her home country, encouraged Luvalu's musical talent early on in the church choir of Pfäffikon. In summer 2003 he applied for the first season of the talent show MusicStar , where he made it to the finals, but then retired as the fifth from last candidate in February 2004.

Three months later he was a background singer in the group Piero Esteriore & The Musicstars , which was put together for the Eurovision Song Contest , under the direction of his former MusicStar opponent Piero Esteriore . You represented Switzerland with the title Celebrate! who made it to number 11 on the charts, but failed in the semifinals of the Eurovision Contest without having received a single point.

In October 2004 Luvualu's debut single I Need It came out, which reached the lower echelons of the Swiss pop charts. The first album, recorded in collaboration with the Zurich music producer Sergio Fertitta , failed to achieve this success.
