Sergio Fabián Zárate (born January 14, 1969 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine football player.
He played from 1990 to 1995 (with the exception of the 1992/93 season, in which he was under contract with AC Ancona ) for 1. FC Nürnberg and Hamburger SV and completed 80 games in the Bundesliga and scored 23 goals. The little striker was called a magic mouse by the fans . He was also called El Ratón (the mouse) at his hometown club Vélez Sársfield .
After his departure in 1995, when he was convicted of tax evasion in connection with the financial scandal at 1. FC Nürnberg and then made derogatory comments about Nürnberg and the journalists , he played mainly in Mexico and Argentina until his retirement in 2004 .
He had an assignment for the Argentine national soccer team .
Today he works as a manager and advisor to his younger brother Mauro .
