Serhiy Dozenko

Serhij Mykolajowytsch Dozenko (born July 27, 1979 in Simferopol , Russian Sergei Mikolajowitsch Dozenko , Ukrainian ; Сергій Миколайович Доценко) is a former Ukrainian welterweight boxer and silver medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games .

He won the 50th Strandja tournament in Poland in February 1999 with a final victory against Nurhan Süleymanoğlu . He also won the Black Sea Cup in Ukraine in October of the same year , including a win against Oleg Saitov . In June 2000 he was able to defeat the two Americans James Webb and Walter Wright in international matches.

He was then invited to the 27th Olympic Games in Sydney . He defeated it in the preliminary round Guillermo Saputo from Argentina , in the second round Parkpoom Jangphonak from Thailand , in the quarterfinals Danijar Munaitbassow from Kazakhstan and in the semifinals Vitalie Grușac from the Republic of Moldova . Only in the final fight he had to admit defeat to the Russian Oleg Saitow and reached 2nd place in the welterweight division.

In 2001 he started a short professional career. He defeated in Poland Milan Vršecký by knockout in the second round and in Germany Patrick Puskás by knockout in the first round. In his third fight in Ukraine, he won on points against Volodimir Rubailo and thus won the Ukrainian champion welterweight title. Then he ended his career.
