Friedrich Wilhelm von Steinwehr

Friedrich Wilhelm von Steinwehr (born August 5, 1733 in Deetz , Soldin district , † September 22, 1809 in Berlin ) was a royal Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the 40th Infantry Regiment .

Life

origin

His parents were the heir to Deetz Philipp Christoph von Steinwehr (* 1686; † 26 May 1740) and his wife Anna Margarethe von Kienitz († 22 February 1743).

Military background

He came on February 1, 1750 as a private corporal in Infantry Regiment No. 23 . He became an ensign on June 30, 1755 and took part in the Seven Years' War as such . He was wounded in the battle of Prague . He then fought in Roßbach , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Reichenbach , Liegnitz and Torgau . He also took part in the sieges of Prague and Dresden. In this war he was promoted to second lieutenant on June 4, 1757 and on November 16, 1760 to premier lieutenant . After the war he became staff captain on January 18, 1765, and real captain and company commander in infantry regiment No. 23 (Renzel) on May 18, 1768 . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession , where he fought near Weiskirch. On November 27, 1778 he received the order Pour le Mérite for this .

On December 2, 1778, he was promoted to major and on April 1, 1780, he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion . A little later on January 1, 1783, he was appointed commander of Regiment No. 23. On June 7, 1788 he became lieutenant colonel and on August 30, 1790 colonel. On January 7, 1795, he was appointed major general and was appointed chief of the 40th Infantry Regiment . On February 1, 1800, he celebrated his 50th anniversary with the company. On May 20, 1801 he was promoted to lieutenant general, with a patent from May 25, 1801. On September 21, 1805 he received his resignation and a pension of 1200 thalers. He died on September 22nd, 1809 in Berlin and was buried on September 25th, 1809 in the Halle cemetery.

He married on June 8, 1768 in Weitenhagen Margarethe Henriette von Below (* June 16, 1744, † June 28, 1775) from the house of Klein Machmin . The couple had the following children:

After her death, he married on January 21, 1777 on Saleske Charlotte Luise Hedwig von Below from the Saleske house (* June 17, 1754, † January 29, 1793). The couple had the following children:
