Serhij Petrowytsch Kljujew (born August 19, 1969 in Donetsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian businessman and politician. From 2006 to 2014 he was a member of the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada . He is the younger brother of Andrij Kljujew .
Life
From 1987 to 1992 he studied at the Donetsk National Technical University and trained as a mining engineer. After that, Kljujew was the commercial director of Trade House Podshipnik , a joint venture company, until 1994 , and in 1994 he became the vice-president and chairman of the board of directors of Ukrpodshipnik , a company that operates in the industrial, commercial and banking sectors. From 2000 to 2006 he was temporarily chairman of the board.
From 1997 to 2005 he was temporarily a member of the board of the Slav AG Company , a holding company based in Vienna which mainly deals with steel and non-ferrous metals.
Kljujew was Deputy Chairman of the Donetsk Oblast Regional Council from 2002 to 2005 . In April 2006 he was elected as a member of the Verkhovna Rada for the Party of Regions . He was a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe PACE and was a member of the Rada Committee on Banking and Finance. Since January 2007 he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Ukraine .
Kljujew is married to Irina Kljujewa (* 1964), has a daughter and a son (* 1992). He is the author and owner of 39 patents in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy, cable production and electrical technology. The Ukrainian magazine Fokus counted him and his brother Andrij among the richest men in Ukraine in 2010. Kljujew is said to have acquired the company Tantalit ( Ukrainian ТОВ "Танталіт" ) in 2013 . Tanalit is the company that owned the extensive Meschyhirja estate on which President Viktor Yanukovych resided.
After President Yanukovych was overthrown in February 2014, Serhiy Kljuev and his brother's accounts in Switzerland and Austria were blocked.
