Serrahn is a forest village belonging to the municipality of Carpin in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the terminal moraines near Neustrelitz in the Stargarder Land ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ), today located in the eastern part of the Müritz National Park. The Serrahn mountains reach 113.7  m above sea level. NHN .

Already known in GDR times as a nature reserve and seat of the larger state hunting area "Wildlife Research Area Wilhelminenhof", it was previously the hunting area and forest botanical experimental facility of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz . From 1949 the committed nature conservationist Hubert Weber was the district forester in Serrahn, he set up the bird protection and later nature protection station and managed it until 1982.

On June 25, 2011, a 268 hectare area of ​​the Serrahn forest area became part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage of Primeval Beech Forests and Old Beech Forests of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe . In the Serrahn forester's house, the Müritz National Park maintains the Serrahn National Park Information Center with an exhibition about the local beech forest.
