Servilio de Oliveira (born May 6, 1948 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian flyweight boxer. He is also known by his battle name "Eder de Ébano".
career
Before de Oliveira turned pro in 1969, he was able to win the Latin American championships in 1968 and won the bronze medal in flyweight at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City . In the semifinals he lost to the Mexican Ricardo Delgado on points. This makes him the only Brazilian so far who has managed to win an Olympic medal in boxing.
Oliveira managed the feat to contest his professional career without defeat or a draw. However, it has to be said that his career only consisted of sixteen fights. After all, he became Brazilian flyweight champion in February 1970 and even South American champion in this weight class in December of the same year, after a knockout victory in the seventh round over Ángel Sánchez from Ecuador .
A year later, Oliveira was diagnosed with a detached retina in her eye. This happened in a fight against the American Tony Moreno ; Oliveira won on points. He was advised to end his career. At least he interrupted her. In June 1977 he started a quite successful comeback against Rodolfo Rodriguez from Argentina , whom he defeated on points. Oliveira then realized that further fights were too risky for his health and now withdrew completely.
After his active career, he began to work as a coach and looked after, among other things, the former WBA featherweight title holder Valdemir Pereira .
