Seth Kooitjie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seth Kooitjie , also Seth Madawa Kooiteie (* 1954 or 1955 in South West Africa ; † January 25, 2019 in Walvis Bay ), was the last recognized captain of the Topnaar ( ǂAonin ), a clan of the Nama in what is now Namibia , from 1980 to 2019 .

Kooitjie died of an asthma attack at his home in Narraville, in the coastal town of Walvis Bay . He was married and had three children. His successor is (as of 2019) controversial. Samuel ǂKhaxab claims this because, unlike the Kooitjies , he is a direct descendant of the royal line.

In 1980, for political reasons, his father Esau was supposed to take over the office of captain at the request of the DTA . This passed it on to Seth immediately.
