Sex Games is a pornographic computer game for the Commodore - home computer C64 , in 1985 in Germany developed by brothers Thomas and Markus Landgraf and of the company Landi Soft was expelled. From 1987 to 2012 the game was on the index of the Federal Inspectorate for Writings Harmful to Young People (BPjS), but found further distribution in the form of black copies . As one of the first sex games, it was one of the most famous computer games of the 1980s.

history

development

The game was programmed in the household of Thomas and Markus Landgraf's parents within two weeks. While Thomas Landgraf was responsible as author and draftsman, Markus Landgraf created the music. Mario Scherp took part in the graphics. The game consists essentially of superimposed pictures and was programmed in assembler . At the time of writing, the two young people were between 15 and 16 years old.

Gameplay

The game is a satire of the " jogging games " known from the C64 , such as Decathlon or Summer Games . It is completely in a graphic similar to the Werner comics.

There are five different sexual practices to be completed, which are divided into small windows on the screen. The joystick is moved very quickly from one side to the other. This movement, which is as rhythmic as possible, creates a bar between the individual windows, which is called “lust-o-meter” in the game. If the joystick movement is stopped, it will break down again. The respective scene ends successfully when the bar is completely built up and a ringing bell appears over the window. The so-called "potency meter" represents the time limit for the individual levels. This falls constantly. If he ever reaches the beginning, the game is lost.

The first picture shows the doggy position . Image 2 is the missionary position , followed by oral sex . The fourth picture shows a variant of the Viennese oyster . Picture 5 closes with a group sex scene that includes homosexual intercourse. A bell appears after each solved picture.

distribution

The youngsters had already programmed games for the Kingsoft company beforehand . Since Kingsoft had already switched to the Amiga at that time , the two tried to sell the game on their own. After two advertisements in computer magazines, however, a publisher made them an offer and then sold sex games on their own. In total, the young programmers received around 2,500 DM for their work. However, the game spread rapidly through the black copier market of that time and became a well-known game on the C64.

According to the developers, the game was not a commercial success. It was one of the first sex games and is therefore still mentioned in the media today, especially when it comes to the subject of "sex in computer games".

indexing

Sex Games was indexed by the BPjS, now BPjM , on May 5, 1987 . In March 2001 a browser game version by Kim Lemon was released. The game was removed from the BPjM's indexing list on April 17th, 2012 after 25 years.
