The Seychelles nectar bird ( Cinnyris dussumieri ) is a small songbird from the nectar bird family . It was named after the French traveler Jean-Jacques Dussumier . It is native to the Seychelles , where it is known as a hummingbird in the Creole language .

description

Its length is eleven to twelve centimeters. The plumage is inconspicuous gray. The male has an iridescent purple-green spot on the throat and yellow tufts of feathers under the wings. The long thin beak is curved downwards. The legs are black. The singing of the males is surprisingly high, loud and shrill.

Occurrence

He inhabits almost all the mountain islands of the inner Seychelles. It is one of the endemic bird species of the Seychelles that have been able to best adapt to the changed habitat conditions. Its habitat includes forests, gardens, bushland and mangroves from sea level to altitudes of 900 m.
