Seyed Mohammad Oreyzi (born September 29, 1959 in Shiraz , Iran ; † April 11, 2020 ) was an architect and artist .

Seyed Mohammad Oreyzi had lived in Europe since 1974 . First in London , later in Cologne , where his architectural and artistic career began. In 1989 he founded smo architektur in Cologne. In his work, he researched, developed and experimented with unusual structures that overcome the traditional separation of shape and construction in architecture. Examples of his work were the Max Ernst Museum in Brühl , completed in 2004 together with Thomas van den Valentyn , and the design for the “Bubble Highrise” in Berlin.

Oreyzi has received a number of prizes and awards, including the Thuringian State Prize for Architecture and Urban Development and the German Critics' Prize . His work has been published in the national and international press and exhibited at the 6th International Architecture Biennale in Venice.
