Seymchan: etched cut with figures and inclusions

From the meteorite Seymchan ( Russian Сеймчан ; German transcription Seimtschan ; scientific transliteration Sejmčan ) a piece of 272.3 kg was found in June 1967 near Seimtschan in the Magadan Oblast in eastern Russia . It lay in the river bed of the Chekandue, which flows into the Yasachnaja. Another piece weighing 51 kg was found in October of the same year. These pieces have been classified as Group IIE octahedrites .

In a later expedition in 2004, further parts with a total mass of about 50 kg were found, and when examined it was found that there were olivine inclusions , similar to the Pallasite Glorieta Mountain . Upon further investigation it turned out that there are two types of finds. The Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry are supposed to clarify whether the pieces found later are possibly another meteorite.
