Shōwa Denkō KK ( Japanese 昭和 電工 株式会社 ; English Showa Denko KK ) is a Japanese chemical company that is listed in the Nikkei 225 .

Shōwa Denkō was founded in the 1930s by Mori Nobuteru as part of the Mori Group through the merger of Shōwa Hiryō (fertilizer) and Nippon Denki Kōgyō (electronics) and was originally mainly active in the manufacture of fertilizers ( ammonium sulfate ). Today the company generates its sales through chemicals, aluminum smelting and electronics. With the takeover of GMM Group in November 2016 and ILAG Industrielack AG in 2019, Shōwa Denkō is aiming for a strategic further development of the coating materials division.

Products

Showa Denko provides, inter alia, the bio - Polyester polybutylene succinate (PBS), HPLC columns ( Shodex ), hard disk platter , and rare earth forth.

Scandals
