Shōwa Flat ( Japanese 昭 和平 Shōwa-taira , German 'level of the Shōwa time ' ) is a small plain in the eastern part of Ongul Island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ō-ike .

Surveys and aerial photographs of a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1962 , as a result of which the naming was made, were used to map it. The American Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1968.
