Lake Ō-ike ( Japanese 大 池 Ō-ike , Norwegian Stortjørna , both sides translated Great Pond ) is a lake in the east of Ongul Island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located immediately southeast of the Shōwa Flat plain .
Measurements and aerial photographs from 1957 of a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1962 , as a result of which the naming was made, were used for mapping. The American Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1968.
