Sha'Carri Richardson (born March 25, 2000 ) is an American sprinter .

Athletic career

Richardson began athletics in third grade. 2016 she won for the track team of Carter High School in Dallas , the Federal State Championships ( State Championships ) of Texas in the 100 meters in 11.58 s. The following year she repeated this success and also won the 200 meters. At the US U20 championships in 2017, she placed fourth over 100 meters and took bronze over 200 meters. Richardson made her first international appearance in July at the Pan American U20 Championships in Trujillo , Peru , where she won gold in the 4 x 100 meter relay. In November, she signed with a best time of 11.28 seconds as the fastest high school athlete of her senior year at Louisiana State University (LSU). In her final high school season in 2018, she again won the State Championships in a wind-assisted 11.12 seconds over 100 meters and 23.02 seconds over 200 meters (each +3.6 m / s ).

As an athlete at LSU, Richardson finished 7th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) indoor championships in 7.27 seconds over 60 meters in March 2019.In the outdoor season, she stayed in the qualifying rounds ( East Preliminary ) for the NCAA at the end of May. Championships ( NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships ) with 10.99 s over 100 meters for the first time regularly under 11 seconds after she had achieved wind-assisted 10.91 s (+4.3 m / s) at the Texas Relays two months earlier . At the Austin, Texas NCAA Championships on June 8, Richardson won the 100-meter final in 10.75 s (+1.6 m / s), breaking Dawn Sowell's 30-year-old college record (10.78 s). In addition, with this brand she was faster than Marlies Göhr in her U20 world record, which started in 1977 under her birth name Oelsner in 10.88 seconds. In the all-time world best list , she placed 9th at this point.
