Sha Tin
Sha Tin , also: Shatin , ( Chinese 沙田 , Pinyin Shātián , Jyutping Saa 1 tin 4 ) is a town in Hong Kong that became the satellite town of Sha Tin New Town ( 沙田 新市鎮 / 沙田 新市镇 , Shātián Xīn Shìzhèn , Jyutping Saa 1 tin 4 San 1 Si 5 zan 3 ) developed. Sha Tin has developed over the years from a rural settlement of various village communities with around 30,000 inhabitants to a large planned town with several hundred thousand inhabitants. To the northeast of the city center is Ma On Shan New Town ( 马鞍山 新市鎮 / 馬鞍山 新市鎮 , Mǎ'ānshān Xīn Shìzhèn , Jyutping Maa 5 on 1 saan 1 San 1 Si 5 zan 3 ), a settlement that was initially established as an extension of Sha Tin New Town planned, but listed as New Town in official documents , i.e. as a planned town with local administration and community center but administratively part of the Sha Tin District .
