Shane Nicholson

Shane Nicholson (born June 3, 1970 in Newark-on-Trent ) is a retired English football player . The defender last played at Boston United .

He began his career at Lincoln City in 1986 . In 1992 he moved to Derby County in the First Division , the second highest English league. In 1996, the club made promotion to the Premier League , but Nicholson went to First Division rivals West Bromwich Albion in February 1996 . In October 1997, Nicholson tested positive for amphetamine on a drug test and was banned for life. After a withdrawal, the suspension was lifted in August 1998 and he moved to Chesterfield FC . After just a year, he went to Stockport County , where he played until 2001. He then worked for Sheffield United and Tranmere Rovers . After repeated guest appearances at Chesterfield and Lincoln, he ended his career at Boston in 2007.
