Shangjing Longquanfu
The site of Shangjing Longquanfu of the Bohai Empire , also known as the "First Capital" Longquanfu of Balhae ( 渤海 国 上京 龙泉 府 遗址 , Bóhǎiguó Shàngjīng Lóngquánfǔ yízhǐ , English Capital City Longquanfu of State of Bohai / Shangjing Longquanfu of Bohai State / Shanghai Longquanfu of Bohai State Longquanfu in Ning'an ) is located in Bohai ( 渤海 镇 ) Town in Ning'an ( 宁安市 ) City , Mudanjiang , in the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang .
It was one of the five capital cities (the "first capital" - superior capital ) of the Bohai Empire ( Balhae , 698-926) in the time of the Chinese Tang Dynasty . It was rediscovered by the Japanese in the 1930s . In the 1960s, it was studied by the Archaeological Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences . The palace site has been systematically researched since 1997.
The site of Shangjing Longquanfu of the Bohai Empire ( Bohaiguo Shangjing Longquanfu yizhi ) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (1-158) since 1961 .
