The Shannon Point is a headland at the southeast end of South Georgia . It marks the south-western boundary of the entrance to Esbensen Bay .
British Discovery Investigations scientists mapped and named it in 1930. Namesake is Lieutenant Commander , R. L. V. Shannon of the Royal Navy , captain of the RRS William Scoresby in the mapping.
