Shaun Peter Murphy (born November 5, 1970 in Sydney ) is a former Australian football player who also has an Irish passport and played most of his active time in England . He was also active for the Australian national football team .

Career

Murphy graduated from the Australian Institute of Sport by 1988 and then played for the Blacktown City Demons and Heidelberg United. In 1990 he moved to Perth Italia, in 1991 he went to England to Notts County , where he was active for four years. In the summer of 1996 he signed a contract with West Bromwich Albion , from 1999 to 2003 he played 158 times for Sheffield United . From 2001 to 2002 an engagement at Crystal Palace followed , for which he completed eleven games. Murphy retired from his career in 2004 with Perth Glory , Australia.

With the national team of his country Murphy was able to win the OFC Nations Cup in 2000 . He was also a member of the Australian team at the 1992 Olympic Games. In total, he played 18 times for the senior team and scored three goals.
