Shawn Tyrell Gulley (born September 16, 1993 in Berlin ) is a German / American basketball player .
career
Gulley, son of a German mother and an American father, grew up in Berlin and played in Alba Berlin's youth . In 2011, he moved to the US state of Texas with his mother . He played basketball at Clark High School in San Antonio and at Temple College between 2013 and 2015. There he drew attention to himself, especially in the 2014/15 season with excellent averages (20.4 points, 9.7 rebounds per encounter).
Gulley decided to take the step into professional business and returned to Germany, where he was under contract with the Rostock Seawolves in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB , the third-highest German league, in the 2015/16 season . At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he was in the same league for the Licher BasketBären on the field before he moved within the league to BG Karlsruhe .
In the summer of 2017 concluded Gulley is the playing also in the Pro B FC Schalke 04 at. With a point average of 15.2, he was the second best Schalke scorer in the 2017/18 season and the most successful S04 rebounder with 7.1 rebounds per game. With the "Knappen" he reached the ProB semifinals, which meant promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA after the master Elchingen had resigned . After the promotion, Gulley extended his contract with Schalke 04 for the second highest German league. In preparation for the 2018/19 game year, however, he tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee and was unable to play for the entire season. After his recovery, he was signed again by the Schalke basketball team for the 2019/20 season.
