Shawn Moran

Shawn Moran (born November 19, 1961 in Lakewood ) is an American speedway and long-track driver . He was in 1983 in Marianske Lazne long course world champion, despite a broken leg, he secured the speedway junior world championship in 1981 and in 1982 and 1990 won the team world championship with the US speedway team.

Shawn Moran competed in the European speedway professional leagues in England for Sheffield and Belle Vue, and in Sweden for Hallstavik. Moran was three times in the Speedway Individual World Championship final, with a 2nd place in 1990 in Bradford was the best result, although he was disqualified after the race because of a doping offense resulting from a drug that a Swedish doctor gave him after the overseas -Finals had administered. Shawn Moran ended his career in 1994.

Personal

His older brother Kelly Moran (born September 21, 1960, † April 4, 2010) was also a world-class speedway driver who died of pulmonary emphesis on Easter 2010.

In 1984 Shawn Moran recorded a cover single of the 1975 Chris Spedding song "Motor Bikin". Today Shawn Moran lives in Pocking, Lower Bavaria, with his German partner and gives speedway courses for young riders and beginners in motorcycle track racing.
