Kelly Moran

Kelly Moran (born September 21, 1960 in Huntington Beach , California , † April 4, 2010 ) was an American speedway driver .

Life

Moran was already racing in the British professional league in 1978 and was in his first world finals a year later in Chorzów ( Poland ). In 1982 and 1990 he was world champion with the USA team and was in the 1982 and 1984 World Cup finals. In 1992 he ended his career after a broken collarbone and made a brief comeback in 2003, which only referred to races in California.

Moran was the older brother of Shawn Moran , the long-track world champion from 1983. He was also called the "Jelly Man" or "balance magician" while drifting in the bends hanging almost next to his racing machine. Moran died on April 4, 2010 of complicated emphysema .
