Hans Glaab

Hans Glaab (born December 5, 1936 in Schweinfurt , † September 30, 2015 in Perth ) was a German bodybuilder . At the first German bodybuilding championship, he was class winner among seniors up to 172 cm in height.

Life

Glaab completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker at SKF in Schweinfurt . During this time he started training in Harry Gelbfarb's bodybuilding studio , the first studio of its kind in Germany. On June 5 and 6, 1959, Glaab took part in Turin as a member of the first German national team in the first European championship in bodybuilding. The following year he was a member of the national team at the European Championships in Mulhouse .

At the first German championship in bodybuilding, which was held on October 16, 1960 in the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich , he was the winner in senior class I (older than 21 years, up to 172 cm height). At the second German championships on April 15, 1961, Glaab was second in senior class I and third in the overall standings.

During this time, Glaab set up his own studio in Frankfurt am Main before emigrating to Australia . There he worked, among other things, as a laborer and ship cook . His last bodybuilding victory was in 1965 when he was named Mr. New South Wales . Hans Glaab last lived as a pensioner in Perth .
