The Shell River is a left tributary of the Assiniboine River in the Canadian province of Manitoba .
The Shell River is a river in southwest Manitoba. It arises at the confluence of its two headwaters - East Shell River and West Shell River north of Boggy Creek . It flows in a predominantly southerly direction through the Shell River administrative area . After about 130 km the Shell River reaches the Assiniboine River near Inglis, which is dammed up to Shellmouth Reservoir ( Lake of the Prairies ). The mouth of the Shell River is in Asessippi Provincial Park . The Shell River has a catchment area of about 2000 km². The mean discharge is 2.9 m³ / s.
