Robert Herzl

Robert Herzl (* the 30th August 1940 in Graz ; † 25. November 2014 in Vienna ) was an Austrian musical theater - director and opera director .

Live and act

After graduating from high school , Herzl first studied in Vienna at the University of World Trade and received his doctorate in commercial science in 1969 .

He also studied directing and acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar and also trained as a singer at the Vienna Conservatory .

From 1969 to 1972 Herzl was engaged at the St. Gallen City Theater . He then moved to the Vienna Volksoper , where he was also appointed head of the operations office and senior stage manager from 1972 and deputy director in 1993. From 1996 to 1999 he was still a member of the management, and since 1998 as an honorary member.

Herzl was a specialist in operetta and staged numerous theater productions in Austria and half of Europe, between 1977 and 1988 alone eight times at the Mörbisch Seefestspiele , of which he was artistic director from 1984 to 1989. When his most extensive outdoor Director 2012 was in the Opera Festival St. Margarethen produced Carmen to see.

In January 2005, Robert Herzl was appointed Artistic Director at the Stadttheater in Baden near Vienna , a position that he held until the end of the 2013/14 season and which he performed on February 15, 2014 with Robert Stolz 's operetta Two Hearts in Three-Four Time as Herzls last premiere in Baden ended.

Herzl died on November 25, 2014 in Vienna. The grave is located at the Döblinger Friedhof . In Baden near Vienna the Robert-Herzl-Platz was named after him.
