Rudolf Buczolich
Rudolf Buczolich (born May 15, 1934 in Pama , Burgenland , † June 13, 2015 ) was an Austrian actor and artistic director .
Life
Buczolich attended grammar school in Eisenstadt , after which he graduated from the Wiener Neustadt teacher training college . He then turned to acting and from 1954 completed the Max Reinhardt Seminar . He received engagements in Basel, Hanover and at the Schauspielhaus Graz , which later made him an honorary member. From 1970 to 1977 he worked at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . In 1977 he came to Vienna's Burgtheater under director Achim Benning . Since then he has been a member of the ensemble there.
As a director he staged the Talisman and Liliom at the Schauspielhaus Graz and My Fair Lady at the Graz Opera House. As the predecessor of Wolfgang Böck , he directed the Kobersdorf Castle Games from 1988 to 2003 . He was also director of the Mörbisch Seefestspiele from 1989 to 1992. On ORF he was regularly seen in the program Seniorenclub as Ober Rudolf .
As a Burgenland Croat , he also played the leading role in the Burgenland-Croatian musical Pir na selu / The Wedding in the Country . As a member of this minority, he repeatedly campaigned for minority rights and for the preservation of his mother tongue. He was also a member of the critical "Platform Culture".
Buczolich was married to the singer and actress Elisabeth Ofenböck .
He was buried in the Pama Cemetery in his birthplace.
