Shen Yiqin

Shen Yiqin (Chinese: 谌 贻 琴; pinyin: Shèn Yìqín; born December 1959 in Zhijin , Guizhou Province ) is a Chinese politician who belongs to the Bai ethnic minority and has been the governor of Guizhou, a province in southwest China, since September 2017. officiated. She is the first female governor of Guizhou.

Life

Shen was born in Zhijin County, Guizhou. Shen was part of a group of teenagers sent to the countryside during the final years of the Cultural Revolution . After the Cultural Revolution ended, she began studying history at Guizhou University . After graduating, she became a lecturer at the Guizhou Province Party School. There she later became HR manager. In 1998 she became vice president of the Guizhou Party School, and in 1999 she became vice president of the Academy of Social Sciences.

In December 2001, Shen became the deputy party chief of Qiannan County of Bouyei and Miao , then the deputy party chief and chief commissioner (mayor) of Tongren . In April 2007, Shen became a member of the Guizhou Provincial Party Standing Committee and head of the Propaganda Department. In May 2012, she was appointed deputy governor of Guizhou. In April 2015, she became the Guizhou Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of the Guizhou Political and Legal Commission. She is one of the few female leaders in the Chinese Communist Party .

In September 2017, Shen was appointed acting governor of Guizhou. Shen Yiqin is the first female governor of Guizhou, the first governor of the Bai ethnic group, and the first governor since 1993 to be born in the province.

Shen is an alternate member of the 17th and 18th Central Committees of the Chinese Communist Party and a full member of the 19th Central Committee .
