The Shimokita Peninsula ( Japanese 下 北 半島 , Shimokita-hantō ) is a peninsula in Aomori Prefecture at the northern end of the island of Honshū in Japan .

The peninsula juts north into Tsugaru Strait , which separates Honshū from Hokkaidō . Opposite is the Kameda Peninsula of the Oshima Peninsula . The east coast is on the Pacific Ocean , on the west coast are Aomori Bay and Mutsu Bay .
