Art figure Nabeshin in Excel Saga and Nerima Daikon Brothers

Nabeshin (ナ ベ シ ン) only appears in the anime series for Excel Saga and the sequel Puni Puni Poemi . He plays two roles in the series. On the one hand, he's the director who, usually at the beginning of an episode, argues with the author Rikudo. This is to be understood as a parody of the frequently occurring quarrel between directors and writers of a television series. On the other hand, he is also a character in the world of the series, a daredevil and adventurer, who also attracts attention with his eye-catching clothing style and his Afro hairstyle. He can pull any weapon from the afro. The figure can be understood as a parody of directors who incorporate themselves into their works and whose characters are then portrayed in an exaggeratedly positive or superior manner.

Nabeshin also appears as "Oya-san," a shopkeeper, in the music anime Nerima Daikon Brothers . In each episode, he helps the three main characters by lending them something after they have sung them a song.
