Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 , or P3 for short, is a role-playing game from the Japanese development studio Atlus for Sony's Playstation 2. It is the third video game in the Persona series, which in turn is an offshoot of the Megami Tensei series. In addition to the game, there is also an anime, Persona: Trinity Soul. The game was released in Japan in 2006 and finally in America and Europe from 2008. The version of the game did not contain any bonus disk or special version on the German market. There was only a Collector's Edition in Japan. The game received additional content in a new edition to learn more details from the original game. Persona FES was released in Europe in 2009, while a new edition for the Playstation Portable, Persona 3 Portable , was released in America in 2010 and in Europe in 2011 . The successor Persona 4 appeared in 2009.

Gameplay

Persona 3 and its remakes are an RPG in the style of a Ren'ai simulation . The player takes on the role of a young man who has to explore his new surroundings and make new acquaintances. The player can name the protagonist himself, but he cannot classify his appearance in any more detail. In the course of the game that follows, the main aim is to manage your private life and leisure time with the school requirements and the night trips to the dark hour so that you get enough skills. In combat, the player is supported by the persona , of which there is a whole range, which can be created through fusion. From attacks like ice or fire to physical attacks, a respective persona can be used in combat. The protagonist is the only character who can combine several personas at the same time. The other members of his group, who gradually join the main character and support him with new skills, can only call one persona at a time, which is fixed. Evil lives in the parallel world of Tartarus , into which the school is transformed at night.

The series' soundtrack comes from Shōji Meguro, who composed it in collaboration with Yosuke Uda. The soundtrack was released in Japan on July 19, 2006. In addition, all of the music in the series was played in two live concerts in Japan.
