The Shingle Cove ( English for gravel bay ) is a small and sheltered bay on the south coast of Coronation Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located in the northwest of Iceberg Bay .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations first mapped it in 1933. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out surveys and naming between 1948 and 1949. It is named after the fine gravel on a beach on the south bank of the bay.
