Coordinates: 21 ° 56 ′ S , 114 ° 7 ′ E The Shire of Exmouth is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 6503 km² and has about 2700 inhabitants (2016).
Exmouth is located in the northwest of the state on the Australian west coast about 1,100 kilometers north of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Exmouth , where about 2500 people live (2016).

The Exmouth Council has seven members. They are elected by all residents of the Shire. Exmouth is not divided into districts. The chairman of the council (Shire President) is also recruited from among the councilors.
