program

The emphasis of Shoebox House is on the one hand on German and international contemporary literature (poetry, prose, essay), on the other hand on literary studies, cultural and art history. The titles presented so far also deal with cross-relationships between the areas mentioned, e.g. B. in studies of the 18th century, classical modernism and the present. Examples are books on garden aesthetics of the 18th century, gender and oppression in Black Romanticism , but also studies on melancholy and authors of classical modernism (William Butler Yeats, James Joyce, Virginia Woolf). Shoebox House takes a critical, humanistic and cosmopolitan perspective. The writers in the program include a. Ulrich Horstmann , Rüdiger Görner , Uwe Herms and Siegfried J. Schmidt . The literary magazine Flandziu appears twice a year in conjunction with the International Wolfgang Koeppen Society , Greifswald.

In summer 2015, the new book series Flandziu Collection was founded, which offers a forum for the theoretical aspects of the humanities and literary studies. The Flandziu Collection primarily publishes studies and treatises, but also essay volumes, insofar as they meet the strict scientific requirements of the series (intersubjective comprehensibility, rational and argumentative procedures). The Flandziu Collection is just as open to interdisciplinary discourse as it is to international perspectives in the fields of science addressed here. The topics of the first three volumes are: factuality and fiction , Uwe Johnson and constructivism . The small book series Shoebox Quadrat, which has up to 60 printed pages, was launched in spring 2016 . It contains literary texts, memoirs, essays and short biographies as well as smaller works on questions of cultural studies and humanities.
