Michael Augustin (born June 13, 1953 in Lübeck ) is a German writer and journalist . He lives and works in Bremen .

biography

Augustin studied English , Anglo-Irish literature , folklore and Irish folklore in Kiel and Dublin . From 1976, when in Switzerland , his first band with epigrams appeared he was a freelance contributions for the radio of Radio Éireann Telefís and Radio Bremen written. Since 1979 he has worked as a radio editor and author at Radio Bremen, where he was, among other things, responsible for the fortnightly feature and the poetry program “Fundsachen”. Until 2019 he was co-director of the international literature festival Poetry on the Road in Bremen.

Augustin is also active as a freelance author, translator and visual artist. He writes poems , short prose , short stories and dramolets . His books have been translated into Italian , Polish , Spanish , Greek, Irish , Dutch , English, and Swedish and Portuguese.

For several years he worked as a freelancer for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and writes and draws for literary magazines at home and abroad, such as PN Review ( England ), Sirena ( USA ), Cyphers ( Ireland ), Carapace ( South Africa ), Tratti ( Italy ), Glosses (USA), who hear , Das Gedicht , Flandziu , Poetry album New and the Literary World (Germany).

He has read at numerous international poetry festivals. In 1978 he also founded Germany's first literary telephone in Kiel. This facility still exists today.

He is a member of the Association of German Writers and of the German and Irish sections of PEN International.

Augustin has been married to the Indian poet Sujata Bhatt since 1988 .
