Short Stack is an Australian rock band.

Band history

The members of Short Stack come from the small town of Budgewoi, north of the metropolis of Sydney . They all attended Hunter Performing Arts High School in Newcastle and decided in 2005 without much preparation to take part in the youth band competition Youthrock of New South Wales. After they had left without singing and sounding, they prepared seriously and gained experience with regular appearances in Newcastle, only to compete again the following year. This time they took 3rd place and could also attract the attention of an indie label.

Then they used the possibilities of the internet for themselves and in addition to the MySpace page they started a video blog inspired by the reality shows on MTV and other broadcasters. Her self-made series Short Stack TV enjoyed great popularity and achieved high traffic numbers. They also posted self-made videos on the YouTube channel of the self-written songs Sway Sway Baby , which was filmed with a cell phone camera, and of Drop Dead Gorgeous , which was also played by the music channels MTV, Video Hits and Channel V and on Play - and wish lists were high up. They then shot a short-stack TV episode exclusively on behalf of MTV.

Equipped with a record deal, they appeared with bands such as Good Charlotte , McFly and Simple Plan in the opening act of their Australian concerts - in between they also graduated from school - and gave their own concerts in the three major cities on the east coast before making their debut single Shimmy in late September 2008 a Go Go published. She came to number 31 in the Australian charts. At the end of the year she was named Oz Artist of the Year by Channel V (viewer internet vote). In early 2009, the Princess Ball Tour followed, another small east coast promotion tour with sold out concerts.

The second single Princess just barely missed the top 10 in spring 2009. At the time, they were also working on their debut album, Stack Is the New Black . Before it was released, their first internet song, Sway Sway Baby, was released as a regular single. It rose to number 2 on the charts. The album even reached the top of the chart , but fell out of the album top 50 again after four weeks.

Short Stack released an EP with new songs back in December . The theme song was another top 10 hit. It then took almost a year until the second album. In November 2010 This Is Bat Country was released , which, like the single Planets, confirmed the success of the first album with further top 10 placements.

On March 29, 2012, Short Stack announced their split, but after two years they got back together and released another single called Television .
