Shotty is a freeware - program for creating and editing screenshots under Windows . In addition to the normal edition, there is also a portable version that can be extracted directly with the setup.

Functions

In addition to taking screenshots, the program can also change the window color of the aero effect for the screenshot and also adjust it before taking the picture. However, this is only possible under Windows Vista and higher. It also has the option of defining an adjustable time before recording, so that the user can change the screen content beforehand and display windows as active or inactive. You can record sections, the entire screen or individual windows. Shotty can also do small editing after shooting. These include, for example, the functions blur that the blurring allows individual picture content. The screenshots created can be saved in .tif , .png , .jpg , .gif and .bmp formats and uploaded if desired.

history

The developer Thomas Baumann came up with the idea because a friend of his was making transparent screenshots for a blog with the Microsoft program Window Clippings, which is subject to a fee . He came up with the idea of writing a free program that has similar functions, and that's how Shotty came about. The first version was available in March 2010, it was not public and had no graphical user interface, so it could only be controlled with hotkeys . The first version was published on September 20, 2010. Version 2.0 followed at the beginning of January 2011, and with it Shotty contains a ribbon surface for the first time . There are also small new functions such as the soft focus , which can blur certain areas and the function Area , which can capture a certain area of the screen. Since version 2.0 Shotty can also change the Windows Aero effect for recording.

Thomas Baumann plans to turn Shotty into an open source program ( free software ) so that several developers can volunteer to program at Shotty.

Supported Operating Systems

Shotty is for Windows from 2000 available. In addition, it requires .Net Framework Version 2.0 or higher .
