Shy Nobleman
Shy Nobleman ( Hebrew שי נובלמן) (Born July 2, 1974 in Ramat Gan ) is an Israeli pop musician and actor. He is one of the most famous indie pop singers in Israel . But he has also become known outside of Israel with his English-language albums.
Life
In 1995 Shy Nobleman began his music career as a bassist in Israel's successful rock band Mofa Ha'arnavot Shel Dr. Kasper (translated: Dr. Kasper's Rabbits Show, Hebrew מופע הארנבות של ד"ר קספר). After the band broke up, he moved to London and founded his own band: "Oracle". There he belonged to the mods and garage rock scene. The style of garage rock has also shaped Shy's lyrics and music. There are also elements of 1960s psychedelic rock in his music. His first single Sad Song Happy Song was produced by Liam Watson ( The White Stripes , Billy Childish ). The English-language magazine Melody Maker named this song "Single of the Week".
In 2000 Shy Nobleman returned to Tel Aviv . There he recorded his first album, How to Be Shy , with the group Rockfour . There are influences from Scott Walker , The Move , The Kinks , Paul McCartney , Syd Barrett and can be assigned to the likes of Psychedelic Britpop . Israeli music critics voted How to Be Shy album of the year. Nobleman's music was also perceived outside of Israel. In the USA, Richie Unterberger, a critic at the legendary music magazine Rolling Stone , chose his debut album as one of the top ten albums of 2001. Shy Nobleman shot the video for the single Sad Song Happy Song in Berlin under the direction of Florian Giefer .
In 2002 he toured the USA for a long time. He played with the indie pop band Of Montreal and performed in clubs like the CBGB .
In 2005 Shy recorded his second album Beautiful Life . The two bands Monotonix and Useless ID support him with the recordings . Beautiful Life became the top ten album in Israel. The best known releases were the two top ten hits Girlfriend and Baby in The Rain , which were played up and down on the radio. In 2006 Nobleman performed with the English band Echo & The Bunnymen . In Germany , too , he became known to a larger audience. In the letter to the city-tour of the German band Tomte Shy Nobleman and his band were the opening act .
In 2009 Shy Nobleman caused a minor scandal in Israel. He released his first Hebrew single We will never reach the world cup . With this song he targeted the Israeli national soccer team. The Israeli Sports Minister and the Israeli Football Association have obtained an order stating that radio stations are no longer allowed to play the song.

Shy Nobleman has his own weekly satirical TV and internet show, which he has hosted since 2006. Shy Nobleman has been the Hebrew voice of Donald Duck for 20 years .

Shy Nobleman is married to the Israeli rock singer Billy Levy ( Billy And The Firm ).
