from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Si-Meng School ( Chinese  思孟 學派  /  思孟 学派 , Pinyin Sī-Mèng xuépài ) or School of Zisi and Master Meng was one of the Confucian schools during the Warring States' era . Master Meng (Mencius) studied with a student of Zisi ( 子思 ; approx. 481–402 B.C.E., born as Kong Ji 孔 伋), the grandson of Master Kong (Confucius). Meng later developed and systematized Zisi's theories, hence the name of the school. The ideas represented by the two philosophers include such as “The essence of man is good” (xìng shàn 性善), “Character formation through consciousness development” (jìn xīn yǎng xìng 尽心 养 性), “Chéng [诚 truthfulness] is the beginning and end of all Things ”,“ Without Chéng, no thing ”and so on. The works Zhongyong ( middle and measure ) and book by Master Meng ( Mengzi ) are representative works of this school.

The writing Critique of Twelve Philosophers - d. H. the sixth chapter of the book of Master Xun ( Xunzi ); which ends with a hymn of praise to the teachings of Confucius and his pupil Zigong, is harshly judged by this couple of thinkers (Zisi and Mencius): “The confused and mean Ju [= Confucians] of today overlook the wrong thing about this with all their voices Theory, yes, they not only accept, but also pass them on to posterity.
