The Sirat Expressway ( Thai ทางพิเศษ ศรี รัช , pronunciation: [ taːŋ pʰísèt sĭ rát] ) is a toll city ​​highway in Bangkok , the capital of Thailand .

The Sirat Expressway is operated by the Bangkok Expressway Public Company Limited . This 38.4 km stretch was built to relieve inner-city traffic and the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway . It leads from Rama IX Street (Thanon Phra Ram 9) to Bang Sue , where it merges into the Udon Ratthaya Expressway , with a branch to Thanon Ratchadaphisek (Ratchadaphisek Street) , where it ends at the Bangkok- Chonburi Motorway empties.

The individual sections were put into operation as follows:

  • September 2, 1993: Sector A runs over a length of 12.4 km from Thanon Ratchadaphisek to Thanon Phra Ram 9, where it meets the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway .
  • October 6, 1996: Sector B branches off from Sector A at the Phaya Thai triangle and leads over a distance of 9.4 km to Bang Khlo.
  • September 2, 1993: Sector C leads over a length of 8 km from Thanon Chaeng Wattana, where it connects to the Udon Ratthaya Expressway , via Thanon Prachachuen to Thanon Ratchadaphisek, where it meets sector A.
  • December 2, 1998: Sector D Phase I - Soi Asoke to Khlong Saen Saep , length 3.4 km.
  • March 1, 2000: Sector D Phase II - Khlong Saen Saeb to Thanon Srinakarindra, length 5.2 km.

This highway is also known as the "second stage expressway", as it is the second stage of the Bangkok elevated road system.
