Malus × robusta 5 is an important genetic resource for breeding new apple varieties , e.g. B. as a source of the fire blight resistance gene . The lineage was found and cultivated in the Beijing area. It was introduced to the United States in 1927. It is occasionally wild in North America.

description

Appearance and leaf

Malus × robusta is a deciduous, small to medium-sized tree with an upright to broad - growing crown . The branches can overhang at their ends.
