Sid Cassel

Sid Cassel (born July 24, 1897 in Leeds , England , † January 17, 1960 in Hollywood , California , United States ) was a British - American actor .

After beginnings, the Cassel during the Second World War a . a. working for the radio and later doing live productions for television, the 1950s were his most successful days as an actor. He played mostly in television series and made his debut on The Web . Other series Cassel has appeared on have included Superman , General Electric Theater , Fury, and Perry Mason . Cassel's only film appearance was in 1957 in The Beast from Space , where he played a farmer who is attacked by the monster.

As a stage actor , Cassel appeared several times on Broadway . Cassel appeared there in comedies, musicals and in classical theater plays. In the 1948/1949 season he took on a major supporting role in the play Summer and Smoke by Tennessee Williams at the Music Box Theater on Broadway with the role of Papa Gonzales .

Cassel died in California on January 17, 1960 at the age of 62.
