Sidney William Souers
Sidney William Souers (born March 30, 1892 in Dayton (Ohio) , † January 14, 1973 in St. Louis ) was an American admiral and intelligence expert.
He held the following positions:
- Director of the Central Intelligence Agency 1946
- Executive Secretary of the National Security Council 1947–1950
- Advisor to the US President on Military and Foreign Affairs 1950–1953
On January 23, 1946, Souers was appointed first director of the Central Intelligence Agency by Harry S. Truman . Prior to his appointment, he was the assistant director of Naval Intelligence. He is the author of the intelligence chapter of the Eberstadt Report .
